Our current exhibition “ROLF HANS - Color Worlds” can be seen from 11th of May until 11th of June 2021.
We present an exclusive selection of works by our favorite Frankfurt artist Rolf Hans. From 1958 he devoted himself to painting in particular with its instruments. From the very beginning of his work, Hans strove to express his fascination for colors and their optical interactions.

Pablo Picasso is considered the epitome of the modern artistic genius. Seemingly effortlessly, he used all genres, techniques and materials. Printmaking in particular offered him a rich field for experimentation, in which his artistic work found ever new expression.
Between 1919 and 1930 Picasso produced his first lithographs. But his enthusiasm for the technique of lithography continued to grow after 1945. During this important phase he worked closely with Fernand Mourlot. In addition to lithographs, he also produced etchings. The etchings of the "Caisse à Remords", which were numbered after his death and received Picasso's stamp signature, bear witness to his inventiveness and virtuosity. The artist learned the graphic techniques autodidactically. Printmaking offered him the possibility to achieve a pictorial unity and to transport the representation as a whole, in one go - as a print - onto paper. By means of this medium, he dealt with recurring thoughts and themes that were relevant to his oeuvre as a whole. Picasso saw himself as a dramatist throughout his life. The medium of graphic art in particular allowed him an intermediate existence between drawing and painting, in which he could play the two off against each other. In this respect, an understanding of Picasso's art only begins when one gets involved in the challenges and provocations of one's own seeing. He concentrated on individual motifs whose expressiveness he explored experimentally in numerous variations. By the time of his death in 1973, his print oeuvre comprised nearly 2.000 sheets.

Sebastiaan Spit is back in Frankfurt after more than 10 years, giving many collectors and institutions the opportunity to enjoy his works in situ. In Dutch tradition, he creates through his oeuvre a technically sophisticated reproduction of the sky and thereby thematizes Goethe's love for the clouds.
"The first impression conveys the memory of baroque depictions of the sky. The gestural application of paint condenses into cloud-like structures, and only the association with depictions of the sky brings the reference to classical landscape painting. (...) With applied layers of glaze and the interplay of colors, he suggests to the viewer a spatial conception of the motif and additionally creates a reference to the space in front of the canvas..."
